Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a rare genetic disease that primarily attacks the respiratory system, and longtime supporters Thompson Creative in Greensboro, North Carolina created this poster to promote the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's annual Great Strides Corporate Walk. In order to meet the dual goal of raising public awareness about the disorder and recruiting participants, Thompson Creative developed a simple visual concept juxtaposing oxygen-giving trees with lungs. The legend, "Walk so others can breathe," and the connection of the scenic park setting of the walk with the respiratory nature of the disease, says agency president and creative director Gary Thompson, fulfilled a challenge: "With so many worthy causes competing for donation dollars, the challenge is to communicate quickly with your audience while still connecting on an emotional level."
