Everyone knows Manhattan, but not everyone knows Manhattan. To aid the tourist, traveler and anyone who doesn't normally venture outside the home neighborhood, Urban Mapping Inc. in San Francisco put together a fun, durable guide with a unique twist: the Panamap. The unique printing technology used to produce the Panamap "allows three different spatially-configured data sets to be displayed on a thin sheet of plastic," explains Urban Mapping. Depending on the angle of viewing, the Panamap reveals neighborhoods, streets or subway networks. The effort and research required to develop this compelling map were extensive, but the final product is both highly interactive and distinctly low-tech.
