For its first-ever annual review, labor and employment law firm Ford & Harrison wanted to address the state of the economy in graphic form. Marketing firm Greenfield/Belser took the familiar style of Depression-era WPA illustrations and updated them using current graphic techniques under the banner, "30 years of hard labor." "Most annuals we've seen present a tsunami of words that defeats even the most dedicated readers," says the Washington, D.C.-based agency. "Our goals were simple: Tell stories that are enjoyable and easy to follow, and position the firm as important, confident and a leader." By inverting the usual word-image ratio, the overall book seamlessly focuses on important business issues through the years, while the sidebars trace the firm's geographical expansion and growth in numbers.
